CHILDREN’S SALVATION, NEXT STEPS AND BAPTISM

Scheduling Baptism

Our church staff heeds the words of Christ when He says, "Let the children come to me." Is your child asking questions about salvation or baptism? Do you wonder if your child understands enough of the Gospel in order to be saved? Then we encourage you to make an appointment with one of our pastors where they will meet with the parents and the child and walk them through the plan of salvation.

Next Steps for Children Attendance Reservation Requested

All children (3rd grade and under), who have asked Jesus to come into their heart, made a public profession of faith, are seeking baptism or respond during an invitation during one of the worship services at FBC, is asked to make an appointment with a pastor.  The following information will be covered during the meeting:

  • Importance of Becoming a Christian

  • Process of Becoming a Christian

  • How the Church Works

  • How to Develop a Quiet Time

  • Discipleship Skills

  • The Need for Prayer

  • Baptism

  • The Lord’s Supper

Your child’s spiritual development is so important to the staff here at First Baptist Church. We truly feel that one of the most important tasks given to the church is telling the world about the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. When a child makes a decision to follow Jesus as his/her personal Lord and Savior, we want to partner with parents and families to celebrate that decision and to build on the child’s understanding of the personal decision and public profession.

Questions about Salvation/Baptism

Many children ask questions related to their personal salvation experience long before they are ready to become a Christian. This questioning process may begin years before the child is ready to proceed with a decision to follow Jesus as his/her personal Lord and Savior. When your child ask questions please do your best to answer his/her as honestly as possible. Remember you are developing his/her understanding and aiding in the spiritual maturing process. Here are a few sample questions:

  • How can I get baptized?

  • What does it mean to be a Christian?

  • When can I get baptized?

  • What is sin?

  • Why did Jesus have to die on the cross?

As you answer these and other related questions, it is a good idea to point out verses in the Bible and allow your child to read them. This will help the child by remembering what the Bible says.
