Senior Pastor
Chuck Williams became Pastor of FBC Covington in March of 2010. He has had an interesting journey. In 1971 he graduated from Covington High School, having lived outside Covington in the Garland community. Afterward he attended and graduated from Union University in 1975 with a BA in Religion. His ministry has taken him to upstate New York, where he worked with the North American Mission Board, starting a church in Tupper Lake New York 1977-1980. Cliff came to FBC Covington in October of 2009. He was born in Midland, Tx but grew up in Memphis, TN. After graduating from White Station High School in 2002, he played football at Lambuth University, and then graduated from the University of Memphis with a B.S. in Sociology. Shortly after, he and his family moved to central Texas where he pursued and received his Master of Arts in Youth Ministry degree from Howard Payne University in May of 2009. Minister of Music and Education
Jeremy joined the FBC staff in June of 2011. After serving full-time for nine years in public school systems as a choir director and part-time for 10 ½ years as a Minister of Music, Jeremy felt God’s calling to serve full-time at First Baptist Church, Covington. Jeremy brings a great deal of experience in music education, and he hopes to be able to use his experience as he develops the music program and the education program at First Baptist. Children's Minister
Sara was born in 1977 and has lived in Covington and attended First Baptist Church all of her life. Upon graduating from Covington High School, Sara attended Lambuth University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in history. Later, Sara attended the University of Memphis where she earned a Masters degree in in the Arts of Teaching, with a concentration in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership. Sara married Craig White in October of 2002, and after seven years of teaching in the Tipton County School System, God gave her the precious gift of twins! She then chose to become a stay-at-home mom to care for Sam Harris and Faith. Now that the twins are old enough to attend pre-school, Sara has started a new venture in life as the part-time Children’s Director of First Baptist Church. Sara loves cooking, traveling, going to "the lake," and being with friends and family.My goal in life is to raise my twins to be God-fearing, God-loving Christians who will let Jesus shine through their journeys, friendships and experiences in life. I am blessed to have a position where I can still be very involved in my children's lives. I also hope to instill the same values in the children to which I minister here at First Baptist church and in our community." Stephen joined First Baptist Church in September of 2011. He was born in Somerville, TN but grew up in Eads, TN. At age 16 he moved to Oldham County Kentucky near Louisville. After graduating at Oldham County High School in 1968, he attended Kentucky Southern College for one year and then transferred to Lambuth in Jackson, TN. Upon graduating in elementary education in 1972, he got a teaching position in sixth grade in Alamo, TN. Financial Secretary
I was born and raised in Alcoa ,TN. I accepted Jesus as my Savior at the age of 8 with all of the understanding of an 8 year old. My parents are godly people who took me to church and we lived next door to our church’s parsonage – so I had lots of exposure. Anytime my brothers or I came up with some of those “theological questions” that children can ask and aren’t answered in black and white in the Bible, my Mom would say, “Let’s go next door and talk to the preacher.” I began working in the church office in 1975 as a part time office helper. I worked in that capacity during different stints as God allowed me to be a part of the office ministry and to also be home with our three young daughters. God brought me back to the office ministry at First Baptist as financial secretary in 1997. I have so many favorite Bible verses. This one is also part of one of my favorite hymns - “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 God is my rock, my salvation, my rest, my peace, my refuge, my hope, Healer of my heart and so much more.

I was born and raised in a Christian family by parents who not only “talked the talk,” but “walked the walk.” My brother and sister say I am the “spoiled baby” of the family. I have 3 children, Amy, Steven and Devin, and one grandchild, Sophie. I grew up in FBC and was baptized here at the age of 11. I attended other churches after my parents and I moved from Covington when I graduated high school. I returned here in 1988 and have been here since. I have found FBC to have many friendly, loving people. They have supported me and prayed for me during hard times in my life, and celebrated with me during the good times. I am proud to say I am a part of FBC. I began to work as secretary for FBC in 1989 and have worked here since except for a 2 year period that I stayed at home with my youngest son. I believe God called me to this job and I thoroughly enjoy serving FBC and working with our staff. I enjoy reading. I don’t have a favorite author, but a few of my favorites are John Grisham, Dee Henderson, and Terry Blackstock. I also enjoy traveling and do that as often as I can. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family and friends. One of my favorite Bible verses is Philippians 4:6-7. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Another one is Romans 8:38. “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any power, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Praise God!! |
